LTCOP - Long Term Care Ombudsman

The Ombudsman (a private, non-profit agency) are specially trained advocates who are given authority under Federal and Maine law to investigate and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, long term care consumers.

LSE - Legal Services for the Elderly

Provides free legal services for persons 60 years of age and older and often represents consumers in an appeal.

AAA - Area Agencies on Aging
Provides an array of options for elders (friendship, health & wellness, nutrition, educational seminars, personalized home help, caregiver relief, Alzheimers & Dementia services, adult day services, financial planning, housing options, health insurance counseling, Medicare/Medicaid help, assistance with preparation of complicated forms) vital to help them remain independent. Maine is covered by 5 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), with each being assigned to specific counties. The geographic area of each AAA is as follows:
