What's New in Long Term Care?
Respite for Caregivers
Do you need time off from caring for your loved one?
If you are a primary caregiver for a family member or loved one, you may be able to access respite services through the programs coordinated by Elder Independence of Maine.
Respite is defined as services provided on a short-term basis because of the absence of or need for relief of the caregiver. A caregiver may need respite because they have to be someplace else. Or they need to just have some time for themselves. Caregivers may want to use this time to run errands, participate in church, a club or activity. They may simply need to take a much-needed nap.
In general, respite services may be provided at home - on an hourly basis - or overnight in a facility. In any case, the person receiving the care must be receiving services from Elder Independence of Maine.
Contact your Care Manager at Elder Independence of Maine to discuss your respite needs.
